"He was my grandfather, but he was clearly a bit of a cad" Robert Nurden tells 'The Village'

The two-page feature interview in the Walthamstow magazine (Dec 2020) explored the "remarkable life" of local legend Stanley James - Robert Nurden's grandfather and the subject of his meticulously researched biography, 'Between Heaven and Earth'. James (a former cowboy) was a radical, non-conformist, socialist preacher who converted to Catholicism and "became one of the world's leading commentators on the Catholic faith". However, James' life was not without scandal as Robert's book reveals.
