In an in-depth interview with Byline Times (12th October 2023)Stephen, the author of 'Just Time', discussed his experiences in numerous UK prisons and, in particular, prisoners' access to legal aid and his campaign to secure access to computers for prisoners who were representing themselves in court, - as well as the effects of the 2014 ban on books being brought into prisons. The interview also explored the charities and organisations who helped Stephen go on to build a successful career after his release and whether a change in government will improve our prison system. Stephen says, "I think that the solution if you really want to change prisons is to take politics out of prisons, and reintroduce a legal accountability framework."
